Meetings between Gohar Hovhannisyan, President of Hanganak NGO, and Arthur Torosyan, President of the Armenian Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology (AAGG) and Founder / President of the Association of Healthcare and Assistance to Older People (AHAOP), are becoming a tradition. The first meeting, which took place on August 27, 2021, was of a cognitive nature.
It should be reminded that the Association of Healthcare and Assistance to Older People is the only organization operating in Armenia, which aims to promote the development of geriatric services in Armenia, application of integrated care and encouragement of independent and active involvement of the elderly in public life. All this is in line with the goals and objectives of Hanganak NGO. Therefore, the meeting scheduled for January 2022 took place to discuss the details of the courses planned for February.
Ten staff members who provide medical and social services to the elderly will attend the trainings. Course Coordinator Lilit Muradyan presented the theoretical and practical topics and schedule of the classes. It was decided to split the 6-day program into two stages to give the opportunity to adapt the knowledge, maintain the continuous nature of the courses and provide feedback.
The meeting took place in a very warm atmosphere. Arthur Torosyan presented the programs implemented in the organization during this period. Gohar Hovhannisyan was interested in the latest developments in the examination of geriatric patients and the reporting forms specifically developed for them. These documents are still under development and will be provided only after the approval by the Ministry of Health, RA.
FAR has promised to provide the financial side of the program. Lilit Muradyan noted that the details of trainings implementation should be discussed with FAR officials.
