Hanganak NGO Receives AAMA Boston Grant to Sustain Home-Based Care for Displaced Older Adults in Kotayk
Hanganak Charity NGO is pleased to announce that it has received a grant from the Armenian American Medical Association of Boston (AAMA Boston) to sustain essential home-based medical and social care for older adults forcibly displaced from Artsakh and now living in Hrazdan and surrounding communities of Kotayk Marz.
Amid funding constraints, this contribution provides crucial support for approximately 35 vulnerable older adults, particularly those who are homebound, living alone, or facing chronic illness, disability, and limited mobility. Complementing the new AWWA-supported funding cycle that began on July 1, AAMA Boston’s grant has helped us allocate available resources more effectively and maintain the full range of essential services for our beneficiaries in Kotayk.
Through regular home visits, Hanganak’s physician, nurse, and social worker provide health monitoring, assistance with prescribed medication routines, and support with daily living needs. The grant also helps cover essential transportation and medical and care supplies.
For older people who have lost their homes and familiar support networks, these visits offer practical care and reassuring personal contact. Hanganak’s 2025 Baseline Assessment highlighted substantial unmet health, caregiving, and psychosocial needs among displaced older adults, reinforcing the importance of consistent, individualized support.
The AAMA-supported services also complement Hanganak’s planned community center initiative in Hrazdan, developed for EPF/UNHCR support. The center would offer psychosocial, educational, creative, and social activities for displaced and host-community older adults, expanding opportunities for connection and participation alongside home-based care.
