In Artsakh, providing social support to Hanganak’s beneficiaries was made easier thanks to close cooperation with state institutions, whose accessibility and willingness to assist ensured that issues were resolved quickly and effectively. In such a small community, both government and civil organizations were able to respond promptly to the needs of the population. Whether it involved pensions, allowances, legal matters, healthcare, or financial support, solutions were found efficiently and with positive outcomes.
After displacement, however, our beneficiaries entered a new social environment where challenges became far more complex. Addressing these difficulties required persistent, intensive social work—efforts that did not always yield the best results.
Fortunately, Hanganak had the opportunity to share office space with Médecins du Monde (MDM), which opened the door to an invaluable collaboration with their professional social team, led by Sevak Galstyan. Thanks to this partnership, many pressing issues were resolved, including access to pensions, allowances, temporary housing, and free medical care. Beyond the practical solutions, this cooperation also marked the beginning of a meaningful friendship and a foundation for long-term collaboration.
Our partnership with Sevak Galstyan continues to this day. Although now engaged in other social programs and serving as a supervisor and coordinator for different organizations, he continues to generously provide his expertise and guidance, helping our beneficiaries address a wide range of social challenges.
Recently, one of our beneficiaries faced a serious health and financial crisis after being injured in a car accident. Once again, with Sevak’s mediation and support, it was possible to include this individual in the Paros program, securing additional state benefits and much-needed assistance.
