End of Year 2025

Hanganak NGO and the Elderly Support Project: A Year of Care, Partnership, and Vital Achievements

As 2025 comes to a close, Hanganak NGO reflects with gratitude and pride on a year marked by meaningful progress, strengthened partnerships, and continued dedication through our Elderly Support Project. Guided by our mission to improve the quality of life of older adults by enhancing their physical, mental, and social wellbeing, this year reaffirmed our belief that dignified aging requires comprehensive and compassionate care.

Since its launch on November 29, 2004, the Elderly Support Project has remained one of Hanganak’s core initiatives, supporting vulnerable and homebound elders through long-term, community-based services. In 2025, despite ongoing challenges following displacement from Artsakh, our organization continued to adapt, rebuild, and serve with resilience.

Food Security and Daily Care

Food support remains a cornerstone of the project. The essential monthly food packages provided to beneficiaries are purchased using funds generously allocated by the Armenian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA-Inc.). This steady support ensures food security and nutritional stability for our elderly beneficiaries throughout the year.

In addition, since January 2024, Martik Foundation has been providing monthly dried fruits and sweets, complementing the main food packages and bringing warmth and comfort to our beneficiaries. During Hanganak’s community events, Martik Foundation also contributes modest treats, helping create a welcoming and respectful atmosphere for our elders.

Health Care and Home Visits

The work of Hanganak’s health care staff is central to the project’s impact. Throughout the year, our nurses and medical professionals conducted regular home visits, carefully monitoring beneficiaries’ health by measuring blood pressure, glucose levels, and oxygen saturation. They assisted with proper medication intake, provided consultations, and, when necessary, accompanied beneficiaries to regional polyclinics, ensuring continuity of care and timely medical attention.

This hands-on, personalized approach allows us not only to address immediate health concerns, but also to prevent complications and promote long-term wellbeing.

Psychosocial, Educational, and Community Activities

In 2025, the Elderly Support Project continued to expand beyond physical care, recognizing the vital role of mental and social health. Our beneficiaries participated in a wide range of supportive and empowering activities, including:

1.Healthy lifestyle workshops, promoting prevention, self-care, and active aging

  1. Group and individual psychological counseling, conducted by our trusted partner, Empathy Mental Health Center, providing safe spaces for emotional healing and resilience
  2. Art therapy sessions, supporting self-expression and mental wellbeing
  3. English classes, launched and led with the dedicated involvement of Hanganak’s volunteers, encouraging lifelong learning, confidence, and social interaction.

These activities have strengthened social bonds, reduced isolation, and restored a sense of purpose among participants.

A Major Institutional Milestone in 2025

One of the most important achievements of this year was Hanganak NGO receiving a state license in 2025 to provide comprehensive home care services to homebound patients. This official recognition marks a significant step forward for the organization, validating our professional standards and enabling us to expand regulated, high-quality care for the most vulnerable elders. This milestone strengthens the sustainability and credibility of the Elderly Support Project and opens new pathways for institutional growth.

Gratitude to AWWA: A Partnership of 21 Years

At the heart of our endurance and progress stands the Armenian Women’s Welfare Association, whose continuous support for more than 21 years has made the Elderly Support Project possible. Through war, blockade, displacement, and rebuilding, AWWA’s trust and commitment have enabled Hanganak to serve elders with dignity and consistency. For us, AWWA has never been only a donor, but a steadfast partner in care, humanity, and hope.

Honoring Our Team and Community

We extend our deepest appreciation to Hanganak’s dedicated staff, whose professionalism, compassion, and perseverance continue to sustain this mission under the most difficult circumstances. We also thank our volunteers and partner organizations — Martik Foundation and Empathy Mental Health Center — whose collaboration enriches every aspect of our work.

This year-end milestone belongs to every individual who has contributed to protecting dignity, restoring hope, and improving the lives of our elderly beneficiaries. Together, we move forward with renewed commitment into the coming year.
