On behalf of the team and beneficiaries of the Hanganak NGO, we express our deep gratitude to the Armenian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA), thanks to whose continued support we are able to carry out our mission in Armenia. In those challenging circumstances, with no support available to our elderly, financial assistance in November and December became vital.
After the forced displacement of Artsakh residents, Hanganak has been actively searching for its beneficiaries for more than two months. The organization has been able to successfully locate almost all of the beneficiaries. There were many cases when beneficiaries were caught on camera by the media outlet. We’ll take a look at those cases to tell their dramatic stories in more detail.
The organization uses all possible means to extend a helping hand to the elderly, lonely and helpless people under its auspices. In both November and December, AWWA fully funded the provision of financial assistance to 265 beneficiaries who found shelter in Armenia. And so, on December 25th, the Hanganak employees personally visited the last 12 beneficiaries in the shelters, who until that moment had not yet received the financial assistance due to the lack of bank cards, and handed over the money on New Year’s Eve.
So the year is over. It has been a difficult, tragic and a year of loss. The only consolation for people who survived the blockade and forced displacement was that they were not left alone with their grief. Throughout this tragedy, the Armenian Women’s Welfare Association has assisted the Hanganak. Thanks to them, we are able to withstand and continue to work – for the sake of our Homeland and regardless of all the challenges.
Hanganak will continue the Elderly Project in 2024 as a non-governmental charity organization. Keep following our website and we will keep you updated on our work, our beneficiaries and their dramatic stories.
