The latest session in our “Healthy Lifestyle” series focused on healthy aging, led by Dr. Gohar Hovhannisyan, Head of our Elderly Program and a public health specialist. Together with participants, we explored:
✔ Balanced nutrition, physical activity, and breaking harmful habits – all critical for maintaining health after 60
✔ Weight management challenges unique to seniors
✔ Mental and social health issues arising post-retirement, exacerbated by displacement
Participants openly shared personal experiences, discussing emotional struggles that have intensified since being forcibly displaced from Artsakh.
Gentle Exercises:
Physical therapist Anush Shekyan guided tailored movements for neck and shoulder muscles. Attendees actively participated and reported continuing the exercises at home!
Healthy Recipe:
At their request, we prepared “brdush” – a beloved Artsakh summer dish. Hanganak staff prepped the ingredients, and together we cooked this nutritious meal. The group then unanimously chose Arab-style tabbouleh (with an Artsakh twist!) for our next session.
